Tylis Chang

Bio: Dr. Chang joined Northwell Health in 2014 in the capacity of Vice-Chair for Pathology Informatics and Chief Medical Information Officer for Pathology as well as Medical Director for the North Shore University Hospital Laboratories. In these roles, Dr Chang was tasked with leading Pathology to better serve patients, clinicians and the health care system by leveraging the existing infrastructure as well as evaluating and implementing new IT technologies that could create value to our customers.
Prior to joining Northwell, Dr. Chang spent 12 years at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, where he served as the Director of Pathology Informatics as well as the Director of Laboratories at the Weiler Hospital and Montefiore Medical Park overseeing rapid response, transfusion, surgical pathology, oncology, molecular and cytogenetics laboratories. Dr Chang worked as an engineer in Silicon Valley (1998-2001) and was NIH funded at the University of Rochester and University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency and transfusion medicine fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania (1993-1998).
In his spare time, Dr. Chang is a Conservation Fellow at the Wildlife Conservation Society where he helped found a mobile molecular infectious disease laboratory. This laboratory travels around the globe to diagnose disease outbreaks and perform disease surveillance in wildlife of conservation interest.
