Bio: Currently, Sam Terese, MBA, MT(ASCP) holds the position of Chief Executive Officer and President of PCL Alverno, an integrated laboratory delivery network of three healthcare systems with a centrally located reference laboratory serving 27 hospitals and a diverse outreach population. With more than 30 years of experience in the laboratory environment, Terese’s leadership experience encompasses community hospitals as well as academic medical laboratory and research-based organizations.
Since joining Alverno, Terese has facilitated the testing integration of 18 hospital laboratories from two Catholic healthcare systems and integrated eight additional hospitals. PCL Alverno has greatly expanded its molecular diagnostics capabilities and its anatomic pathology service laboratory that supports multiple pathology groups. Under Terese’s leadership, Alverno was named the first Siemens Microbiology Innovation Center for the United States and has received awards for innovation in microbiology for implementation of automation and advances in rapid identification.
Prior to joining Alverno, Terese worked at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst, Illinois where he was the Administrative Director of Laboratory Services and EMH Reference Laboratory.
Terese holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Bachelor of Science degrees in medical technology from Rosalind Franklin University Chicago and biology from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
