Bio: Kim Booth is an Assistant Director, Hospital Laboratory Operations for NorDx in Portland Maine. Kim received a B.A. from Kenyon College in Ohio followed by a Master’s Degree in Clinical Chemistry from Cleveland State University. He worked as a technologist and supervisor for thirteen years in Cleveland before joining Maine Medical Center in 1990. In 1997 Kim joined NorDx and in his twenty plus years has risen to become an Assistant Director. Kim presently is responsible for the management of five hospital laboratories and helps manage the regional lab. In Kim’s day to day operations, he is working with the lab based informatics team to develop daily metrics to enhance laboratory operations. Manual data “crunching” has been replaced with automated reports which Kim was instrumental in developing. After setting up and creating these reports, Kim now works with his managers on operational performance optimization, and the physician groups on adding value through ordering the right test at the right time. Kim presently lives in Cumberland Maine with his wife of 42 years. His three children and his two grandsons live in the area. In addition to being a Lion’s Club (service organization member) Kim is also a member of a local church. In his spare time he enjoys golf, reading, and spending time with his family.
