Bio: Kathleen Swanson has overseen the development and implementation of pharmacy services in a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional settings, including hospitals, managed care organizations, large integrated federal health systems, a clinical research facility, and at one of the southwest’s leading reference laboratories. She has extensive experience working with complex healthcare data sets to improve patient care and identify risks. Ms. Swanson has consulted for multiple organizations in performance improvement and quality management systems. Currently, she works with the Clinical Solutions Group at TriCore Reference Laboratories supporting its transition to a clinical information company offering expertise in population health management and targeted interventions. This initiative supports value-based clinical care by aligning pharmacy and laboratory expertise to improve utilization, positively impact patient outcomes, and reduce overall healthcare expenditures, including drug costs. Initiatives include work with payers, health systems, and providers to improve data sharing and provide targeted interventions for health conditions.
Ms. Swanson is a graduate of the Ohio State University and the University of New Mexico where she currently is a part-time faculty and Clinical Assistant Professor at the College of Pharmacy.
