Bio: Dr. Jerry W. Hussong is the Chief Executive Officer of Sonic Healthcare USA. With over 20 years of clinical and administrative laboratory medicine/pathology experience, Dr. Hussong is committed to the enhancement of patient care through his stewardship of medical leadership by fostering expanded partnerships between laboratory services, physicians and their patients. Although keenly aware of the challenges facing clinical and anatomic pathology laboratories within the changing environment of acquisitions and reimbursement reductions, he remains optimistic about the opportunities available for growth, innovation and success in diagnostic laboratory medicine.
Immediately prior to serving as the CEO of Sonic Healthcare USA, Dr. Hussong was their Chief Medical Officer. Before joining Sonic Healthcare, he held positions including the Chief Medical Officer/Director of Laboratories of ARUP Laboratories in Salt Lake City and Director of Hematopathology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is boarded in anatomic and clinical pathology as well as hematopathology. Dr. Hussong has published numerous peer reviewed journal articles and is the co-editor and co-author of Kjeldsberg’s Body Fluid Analysis Textbook and Body Fluids Morphologic Bench guide. He served on numerous national committees including the College of American Pathologists Surgical Pathology and Cancer Committees and currently is a member of their Economic Affairs Committee. He also chairs the International Clinical Cytometry Society’s Advocacy Committee. He currently sits on the board of the American Clinical Laboratory Association. Dr. Hussong earned medical and dental degrees and a master’s degree in cellular and molecular pathology from Northwestern University and an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
