Bio: Gina M. Cooper MSN, RN, BA is the Pain Management Coordinator at Community Physician Network in Indianapolis, a network of over 200 physicians in more than 80 clinics. Gina developed and manages onsite clinical support programs for providers who prescribe opioids and other controlled substances, including patient monitoring protocols and requirements. She also served at the American Institute of Toxicology as the lead clinical toxicologist and as a certification chemist, using mass spectrometry in prescription drug monitoring. Gina’s expertise includes management of substance use disorder, behavioral health, toxicological interpretation, controlled substance monitoring, auditing of provider prescribing, controlled substance laws, chronic opioid prescribing protocols, medication assisted treatment, and controlled substance best practice prescribing guidelines. Gina is a Registered Nurse with certifications in Pain Management, Good Clinical Practice for Clinical Trials, and Lean Six Sigma. She earned her bachelor’s in biology, her BS in Nursing, and holds a master’s in nursing specializing in nursing management and leadership. Gina has been named to serve on the Indianapolis Coalition for Patient Safety as a member of the Substance Use Disorder work-group.
