Bio: Frank Wellman joined Cabell Huntington Hospital as Administrative Laboratory Director in 2016. Responsible for oversight of all areas of the clinical and anatomic pathology sections of the laboratory, Wellman is also in charge of preparing and maintaining expense and capital budgets for the entire laboratory. Providing direction for eight direct reports who supervise the laboratory sections with a total of 104 employees, Wellman supports and acts as liaison between staff and the five pathologists working in the laboratory. His responsibilities also include maintaining regulatory compliance with CMS, CAP, and TJC.
From 2010 to 2016, Wellman was the Educational Coordinator for M.T./M.L.T./C.L.A. programs, coordinating all M.U. programs in all areas of the laboratory. He also served on the university Clinical Laboratory Sciences Department Steering Committee and on the university CLS Department Instructor Search Committee.
Prior to 2010, Wellman was a clinical instructor – medical technology/medical laboratory technician Instructor and coordinator for bench training in chemistry and introductory laboratory administration.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology from Marshall University and completed a 12-month medical technology program at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He has Board of Registry Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
