Bio: Curt Hanson, M.D., is a Consultant in Hematopathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, with an academic rank of Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. He is the previous Chair of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP) and is currently the Executive Physician for Healthcare Innovation for Mayo Clinic Laboratories (MCL). Dr. Hanson leads the government relation activities for both the DLMP and MCL. He is also the past Chair of the Board of Directors for the American Clinical Laboratory Association (ACLA).
Dr. Hanson is an hematopathologist with expertise in bone marrow pathology with emphasis on translational research related to the study of hematologic diseases. More recently, Dr. Hanson has focused his clinical and academic interest on laboratory test utilization and how clinical laboratories need to adapt to a value-based reimbursement environment.
Dr. Hanson earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa. He completed his residency in anatomic/clinical pathology and a fellowship in hematopathology at the University of Minnesota.
